First draft — not yet finalised.
This document is an internal first draft written to describe what the site currently does. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer or a data protection adviser, and it is not legal advice. It must be reviewed and finalised before launch.

2. What we collect at signup
When you create an account we collect and store:
- Your email address and a securely hashed password (handled by our authentication provider — we never see the password itself).
- Your display name, if you provide one, and an avatar image URL if you add one.
- The date your account was created and updated.
If you only submit an email address to a notification or contact form, we store that email address, the part of the site it came from, whether you ticked the consent box, and the time you submitted it.
3. What we collect as you use the site
- Courses you save to your dashboard, linked to your account.
- Reviews and ratings you submit, linked to your account (see section 6).
- Standard technical data your browser sends — IP address, user agent, and request logs — kept by our hosting and database providers for security and reliability.
4. Cookies and analytics
We use strictly necessary browser storage to keep you signed in — your session is stored in your browser's local storage by our authentication provider. Without it, logging in would not work.
We do not currently run third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. If we add analytics or any non-essential cookies in future, we will list them here and, where required, ask for your consent before setting them. Affiliate links (section 8) may set cookies on the destination site, controlled by that site rather than by us.
5. Why we may process your data, and for how long
- Contract: to give you an account, save courses and publish your reviews.
- Consent: to email you updates when you tick the box. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests: to keep the site secure, prevent abuse, and improve the catalog.
We keep your account data, profile data and submitted reviews while your account exists. When you delete your account, we remove all of it within 30 days, and your reviews are deleted too — we do not retain them in anonymised form.
6. Reviews and other content you post
Reviews are public. When you post a review, the rating, the text and your display name are visible to anyone who visits the course page — including people who are not signed in. Please don't include personal information you don't want published. You can delete your own reviews, and we may remove content that is abusive, defamatory or clearly false.
7. Your rights (GDPR, UK GDPR and elsewhere)
This site is used internationally. If you are in the EEA or the UK you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, and receive a portable copy. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office). Users elsewhere — including in California and other jurisdictions with their own privacy laws — may have comparable rights, and we intend to honour access and deletion requests regardless of where you live.
To exercise any of these, use the contact page. We will need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.
8. Sharing and international transfers
We share data with the service providers who run the site for us — hosting, database and authentication. They process data on our instructions. These providers may store data outside your country, including in the United States. We do not sell your personal data.
When you click an outbound course link, you leave this site and the provider's own privacy policy applies. Some of those links may be affiliate or paid placements — see the affiliate disclosure.
9. Children
The site is intended for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children below that age; if you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes
We'll update this page when our practices change and note the date of the last revision here once the policy is finalised.
